Club History
Founded in 1981, ALBION SC emerged as one of San Diego’s earliest and most ambitious competitive soccer programs. In its early years, it quickly became a premier destination for elite youth players in the region, establishing a reputation for excellence long before competitive youth soccer expanded across Southern California. As new clubs began to enter the landscape in the late 1980s and early 1990s, ALBION stood at a defining crossroads, requiring renewed leadership and a unified development approach rising above a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive environment.
That defining shift came in 1998, when Noah Gins was appointed Technical Director and led a full transformation of the club’s philosophy, methodology, and professional standards. Once a small program of six competitive teams, ALBION SC evolved into a fully integrated, curriculum-driven player development model with elevated expectations for coaches, players, and teams. This modernization established the framework that would propel ALBION from a strong local club in San Diego into a nationally recognized powerhouse with a long-term vision for development, advancement, and placement.
Today, ALBION SC has grown far beyond its San Diego roots, emerging as one of the most respected and successful youth soccer organizations in the United States. ALBION now operates in the country’s most influential soccer markets, including Miami, Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta. The club has produced repeated National Champions, National Team players, and thousands of collegiate and professional athletes competing in Major League Soccer, National Women’s Soccer League, top NCAA programs, and leagues around the world. To date, ALBION players have earned over $62 million in college scholarships, reflecting the club’s unmatched commitment to meaningful pathways and long-term advancement.
What began in San Diego has now become the nation’s model club - a benchmark for excellence, innovation, and holistic player development. Guided by uncompromising standards and fueled by a mission to develop world-class players and world-class people, ALBION SC continues to shape the future of youth soccer across the United States and beyond.
